I began fundraising with Wesser in the Summer of 2015 after spending some time volunteering in Nepal. I absolutely loved everything about it, from doing meaningful work for a great cause to exploring different parts of the UK with fantastic people.
I worked in Leeds, Northampton and Bedfordshire and found that living in the team houses was a great stepping stone to moving into University accommodation, making some fantastic friends along the way who I’m still in contact with till this day.
Unfortunately I had to give up fundraising when I moved to Sheffield to start studying, but I was lucky enough to remain involved with Wesser as a Student Ambassador working alongside the Recruitment team. This was brilliant because of how flexible the work was and how I was able to plan it around my studies.
Since leaving university I have joined the Recruitment team as a Regional Recruiter and have been able to meet lots of new fundraisers following in my footsteps and building their careers with Wesser.
One of my favourite things about this role is how nostalgic I get, as I interview some fundraisers in the very same room where I had my interview and started my journey with Wesser all those years ago! The skills I’ve gained and the experiences I’ve had along the way have been invaluable, and I’m so glad that what started off as a Summer job has become so much more.
